Chromecast is popularly meddled with today. But before we discuss it any further, we wanted to point out a feature that you may not have been aware of after watching the demo from Google last week. Chromecast can play local video files from your computer to a TV. This is good news as it means that you are no longer stuck with YouTube or Netflix or uploading your current collection to a cloud service. You may readily grab files already on your computer and then stream them to a TV.
If you own a Chromecast device, you only need to install the Chromecast extension on your PC and then find the file path of a local video file that you’d like to play. Paste install the Chromecast extension on your PC, then find the file path of a local video file that you’d like to play and press the Chromecast button to cast it on over. Yes! It is this simple.
Some of our readers noticed a slight frame rate drop, but relax, it is not noticeable. The video looked pretty damn good on your screen.
We are experimenting with Chromecast and hope to come up with some more later.
