Data Infosys Limited bags work order from BSNL, which handles all PSU, govt agencies’ accounts.
JAIPUR: Data Infosys Limited has recently announced that this Diwali onwards each and every mail sent from the domain of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) all over India will have to pass through Jaipur servers. The reason behind this announcement is that the messaging services of BSNL have been outsourced to a Jaipur-based company. They will be establishing 100 terabytes of storage space to host the facility.
At present BSNL seems to have around 9 million email accounts. The chief executive officer of Data Infosys Limited in Jaipur, Ajay Data in a recent interview said, “We will establish data storage and retrieval centre in Jaipur and all mails on BSNL will be hosted in Jaipur. We got the work order from BSNL on August 26 and services are expected to begin from Diwali this year. It is a prestigious task as BSNL handles accounts of public-sector undertakings and government agencies too.” “
The service is expected to be hosted on the X-Gen plus messaging solution which is indigenously developed by the company. They will provide facilities like basic email, POP, IMAP, WAP mail, Bulk Mail, trackable mail, virtual storage, inscription and digital signature. BSNL hosted its own email services at its data centre in New Delhi until now.
Now with the 100 terabytes of storage space, Jaipur is expected to become a data storage hub in the country. Data further shed light on the matter by saying that, “This is a major step towards local email hoisting in our country as most of the email we use are hosted on foreign shores, for which we have to incur costs on buying bandwidth for assessing. Hosting emails in the country makes our data more secure and less dependent on foreign agencies.”
According to a report by digital measurement and analytics firm ComScore, at present, India ranks third in the global internet usage market with almost 74 million internet users. It is estimated that, today there are around 3 crore active email addresses in the country. And most of them deal with foreign hosts.
