But since the last decade many IT companies across the world have recognized India as the IT hub. Today, India has around 158 large global companies making annual revenue of over $ 1billion. This has made the nation one of the most preferential destinations for setting up of multinational corporations. Owing to this scenario, India has been able to fight back its unemployment problem and in turn did contribute to around 7.5 percent of the country’s GDP.

1. TCS
- Revenue: 48426.14 Cr
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), founded in 1968 is one of the largest providers of information technology (IT) services, business solutions and consulting company in India. It has its current headquarters situated in Mumbai. TCS has over 2,76,000 employees across the globe. In the context to market capitalization, it is rated as the largest Indian company and is also the largest Indian company in 2013.
2. Infosys
- Revenue: 36765 Cr
Infosys is the sixth largest publicly traded company offering solution, software engineering and outsourcing services in India. It boasts of a market capitalization of $30.8 billion.
As per the survey in March, 2013, Infosys had about 798 clients across 30 countries worldwide. Again, percent of the company’s revenue comes from North America, 23 percent from Europe, 2 percent from India, and the rest 13 percent from the rest of the world.
3. Wipro
- Revenue: 31682 Cr
Wipro is the largest provider of IT solutions and services, including Systems Integration, Consulting, Information Systems outsourcing, IT-enabled services, and R&D services. It is currently headquartered in Bangalore and employees around 145,000 people across the world with 900 clients and making a mark in 53 countries.
Wipro is also a value added reseller of desktops, servers, notebooks, storage products, networking solutions and packaged software for international brands.
4. HCL Technologies
- Revenue: 8907 Cr
HCL Technologies (HCL) is a global IT service company dealing with software-led IT solutions, remote infrastructure management, engineering and R&D services, and business process outsourcing (BPO).
It has covered 31 countries employing about 90,000 employees across the world. Anant Gupta is the current president and CEO of HCL technologies.
5. Mahindra Satyam
- Revenue: 5964 Cr
Mahindra Satyam is an IT based service company in India offering services like software development, system maintenance, packaged software integration and engineering design services. It was founded by B. Ramalinga Raju in 1987 and headquartered in Hyderabad. However, in 2013, it subsequently merged with Tech Mahindra
Previously known as Satyam Computer Services, Mahindra Satyam is spread in countries like U.S., Canada, Brazil, the UK, Hungary, Egypt, UAE, India, China, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia today.
6. Tech Mahindra
- Revenue: 5243 Cr
Tech Mahindra is the fifth largest IT Company in India. The revenue of the company rose to $2.7 billion when it over Mahindra Satyam. Anand Mahindra, the Chairman and Vineet Nayyar, the Vice-Chairman heads the executive management team.
Tech Mahindra’s activities are spread across a broad spectrum as well like Business Support Systems (BSS), Operations Support Systems (OSS), Network Design & Engineering, Next Generation Networks, Mobility Solutions, and Security consulting and testing.
7. Mphasis
- Revenue: 3420.84 Cr
MphasiS is an IT service company owned by Hewlett-Packard offering infrastructure technology and applications outsourcing services along with application development and integration, and application management services in 19 countries across the globe. A few of them are India, Sri Lanka, China, Australia, Japan, North America and Europe.
8. Oracle Financial Services
- Revenue: 2605.85 Cr
Oracle Financial Services is known for offering IT solutions to the banking sector. Today it has over 900 clients spread across 145 countries. The company is seen providing solutions in two broad streams of business: product division and prime sourcing. FLEXCUBE from Oracle also provide a vast domain of banking including Core Banking, Private Banking and Lending.
9. MindTree
- Revenue: 1915 Cr
Mindree is IT Solution Company started in 1999. One of the most important projects the company deals with is to help the Indian Government with application development, maintenance, and support services to the nation-wide Unique Identification (UID) called Aadhaar.
It was incepted by ten industry professionals from Cambridge Technology Partners, Lucent Technologies, and Wipro.
10. Polaris Tech
- Revenue: 1762 Cr
Polaris is a leading financial technology company that is currently headquartered in Chennai. It has been offering solutions mainly in the Core Banking, Corporate Banking, Wealth and Asset Management and Insurance Domain.
