Top 10 Highest Celebrity Taxpayers In India

According to the Budget in February 2013, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has introduced a surcharge of 10 percent for high tax payers. It means that any taxpayer whose taxable income is more than 1 crore rupees for one year is bound to pay 10% extra. This will however be applicable only for the fiscal 2013-2014.

When it comes to paying tax by the Bollywood superstars, a daily quoted that, “No one will talk about these things openly, but the advance income tax payer list has thrown up a few surprises this year. For the past couple of years, Salman’s films have been blockbusters at the box office, but Akshay remains way ahead of the pack in terms of his tax payment.” Seems like Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar have outnumbered the top three Khans this year.

We have come up with the list of the top 10 individual Celebrity tax payers in India for the financial year 2012-2013 who surpassed the 10 percent surcharge this time. Have a look:

1. Akshay Kumar

Though 2013 has been a rollercoaster ride for Khidali Akshay Kumau with movies like Special Chabbis, Once upon a time in Mumbai and Boss, the 45-year-old has become the highest advance income tax payer this year.

2. Amitabh Bachchan

2013 has not been a good year in Bollywood for Big B with movies like Satyagraha and Bombay Talkies. However, he is the second rank holder in this list. Thanks to his TV reality show KBC and other endorsements.

3. Salman Khan

Despite of no film releases for Salman Khan in 2013, the Dabanng actor still remains the entertainer of the year. He could bag millions from reality shows like Bigg Boss and other endorsements.

4. Shah Rukh Khan

The 48-year-old King Khan conquered the entertainment world with his popularity and earnings from his mega hit film ‘Chennai Express’. He has also become the most powerful celebrity of 2013 by Forbes India for the second time in a row.

5. Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan too had no releases till this time of year. But the country is all set for his much awaited film Dhoom 3. The trailers have become an instant hit. Hope the movie breaks previous records at the box office.

6. Hrithik Roshan

With Krissh 3’s huge bang on the box office collection, Hrithik Roshan became a part of this list. With six packs and awesome dancing skills, this Greek God of Bollywood also rules the entertainment world.

7. Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor had two releases this year. While Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani became an instant hit, Besharam could not grab many audiences. However, this actor is also one among the top 10 tax players in the list.

8. Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif paid the highest tax of Rs 4.5 crore among the female actors this year. We wish her most awaited avatar in Dhoom 3 spreads the same sizzle as Chikni Chameli and Sheila.

9. Kareena Kapoor Khan

2013 was not that great for Kareena Kapoor Khan with movies like Satyagraha and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. But apparently she has paid 4 crore as income tax this year and is the second female on this list.

10. Priyanka Chopra

2013 proved to be a very influential year for cute Priyanka with her ‘In My City’. She has successfully turned into an international figure with the album. She has paid a meager Rs.2 crore recently as tax thus holding the 10th position in the list.
