Plastic surgery is no longer considered taboo in society. Men and women alike are seen showing interest on this procedure in the recent years. According to a report for the US, men accounted for almost 9 percent of the cosmetic procedures conducted in 2012. It was a 121% increase from 1997. It was seen that mostly baby boomers opted for surgeries. However the age criteria differ according to the countries.

Botox
Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures carried out by men. The percentage rose by 258 between 2000 and 2010. In 2009 alone 337,000 surgeries were conducted. What happens in botox surgery is that it eliminates the signs of creases and wrinkles and acts as an anti aging procedure. When botox is injected into the skin, it paralyzes the muscles that contribute to wrinkles. It does not completely eradicate wrinkles, but make them less noticeable.
Eyelid Surgery
Around 31,000 men performed eyelid surgery in 2009. The upper lids are normally prone to aging faster compared to other parts of the face. What happens in blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is excess skin over the upper eye lid is removed. Doctors remove and reposition the fat and eliminate certain parts of the muscle. They also fix drooping eyelids and lighten dark circles under the eyes.
Gynecomastia or Breast Reduction
Breast reduction is done to reduce gynecomastia. In this procedure, the doctor tries to remove local fats and other glands to eliminate signs of gynecomastia. It is an outpatient procedure and hence men do not need to go through long hours of surgery. A 5% increase was seen in the population opting for this surgery in 2012 compared to 2011.
Nose Reshaping
In 2009 almost 26 percent of the rhinoplasty surgeries performed in the United States was done on men. The surgery looks after a lot of deformities with the nose like excessive width or length, crookedness, beaked nose, bulbous tip and flaring nostrils. Men skin is thicker compared to women; hence it a bit difficult to get the exact desired results.
Liposuction
Liposuction is another most popular surgery conducted by men. Of the population receiving this surgery in 2009, 11 percent of patients were male. Experienced surgeons simply insert certain instruments under the skin that break up fats and vacuum it out to get you the perfect toned body with a stable body weight. It is not a permanent cure to obesity and only helps you attain a positive effect on the shape of your body.
