Plastic surgery is no longer considered taboo in society. Men and women alike are seen showing interest on this procedure in the recent years. According to a report for the US, men accounted for almost 9 percent of the cosmetic procedures conducted in 2012. It was a 121% increase from 1997. Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures carried out by men. The percentage rose by 258 between 2000 and 2010. In 2009 alone 337,000 surgeries were conducted. What happens in blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is excess skin over the upper eye lid is removed. Doctors remove and reposition the fat and eliminate certain parts of the muscle. They also fix drooping eyelids and lighten dark circles under the eyes.

It is an outpatient procedure and hence men do not need to go through long hours of surgery. A 5% increase was seen in the population opting for this surgery in 2012 compared to 2011.
