What is the first thought that come to your mind when you could not come out of an interview successfully? You feel cheated, right? You feel that the other candidates were not up to your standards yet they could go through and you could not. You feel cheated and confused. But, let us do a bit of introspection today. Ask yourself, why did you really fail? Let me give you 4 valid reasons to this. Work on these areas and you too will top the list next time.
4 Reasons as to why do you fail at Job Interviews
1. Not enough preparation
Preparation is a key factor to consider when you sit for an interview and most people lack in this aspect. Most people do not prepare themselves enough for the interview, well mostly because of over confidence. They believe that they are far better for the job compared to the other applicants. They have every qualification required for the job. Do not get swayed away. Revise on what you know. You might have a tough time to recall what you know during the interview.
2. Being too cold to the interviewer
Get your mood straight, never act cold or the interviewer will lose interest in you. A tip is that if some time during the interview you feel that you have made a mistake, you need to move past it quickly and get one with the next question that the interviewer asks you. The interviewer understands the fact that you are human after all and are bound to make mistakes. Therefore, even if you make a mistake, you need not be stressed and must continue the interview with the same zeal as you started off.
3. Lack of foresight
Be prepared from every possible aspect before going in for an interview. It is a metaphoric battle and you need to prepare well for it. There are many a time when you have to face question out of the blue. Do not try to dodge them as they are put to you to check your capability and how you react under pressure. Therefore, do not get over excited or else you might land up with a failed interview. Be mentally prepared with the fact that you can be asked anything and therefore make sure you react in the best possible way.
4. Not thinking before speaking
Think before you speak, else you will be in trouble. Once a question is shot, you need to let your mind process it and then come up with an answer for it. Understand the fact that no question is put in during an interview without a reason. They may seem harmless, but they are not! They are designed in such a way so that the interviewer gets certain facts out of you. You may be shown the door is you do not act cool and answer wisely.
