Samsung Galaxy Note 3 sees its launch in India too and is seen competing head to head with Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra. Let me come directly to the point and start comparing the two devices.
Dimesion: The dimensions of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are 5.95 x 3.12 x 0.33 inches and it weighs about 168 grams. On the other hand, the dimensions of Xperia Z Ultra are 7.06 x 3.63 x 0.26 inches and it weighs about 212 grams. It is also dust and water resistant. However, Xperia Z Ultra is more of a pro because of the resistivity factor on the table.
Display: The Note 3 is seen carrying a Super AMOLED touch display of 5.7 inches whereas Xperia Z Ultra comes with 6.4 inch TFT touch display. Both the phones offer 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. Since 6.4 inches seems a bit too exaggerated, Note 3 wins this department.
Processor: Both the smartphones is available with good processors. The Xperia Z Ultra has been equipped with Quad core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 processor whereas the Note 3 gets a 1.9 GHz Exynos Octa Core processor which is a two quad core processors put together. However, Xperia Z Ultra emerges out as the better of the two in the processing department.
Operating System: The Galaxy Note 3 functions on Android 4.3 version, however, Xperia Z Ultra functions on Android 4.2.2 version. Note 3 lead the race by running on a slightly newer version of Android.
Memory: The Galaxy Note 3 comes with a RAM of 3072 MB and an inbuilt storage of 32 GB. While Xperia Z Ultra offers a RAM of 2048 MB and inbuilt memory of 16 GB. Both the phones feature expandable memory of up to 64 GB. Thus Note 3 wins in this area.
Camera: The Galaxy Note 3 has been loaded with a primary camera of 13 mega pixels while the Xperia Z Ultra comes with a primary camera of 8 mega pixels. Both of them have 2 mega pixel front facing camera. Because of the better rear camera in Note 3, it extends the lead over the Xperia Z Ultra.
Connectivity Features: The connectivity options on both the smartphones are 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Mobile Hotspot and micro USB. The Note 3 also offers Wi-Fi direct option. However, we have to call it a tie in this aspect.
Battery: The Galaxy Note 3 offers Li- ion battery of 3,200 mAh whereas Sony Xperia Z Ultra comes with a Li- ion battery of 3,000 mAh. Thus Note 3 leads in this area too.
Price: The Note 3 is available for Rs 49,900 whereas the Xperia Z Ultra for Rs 39,799. This is the one factor that can nullify the lead which Note 3 has.
Our Take
Though Note 3 offers a few of the functionalities Xperia Z Ultra misses out on, the latter still wins the race because of its water and dust resistivity and of course it’s awesome price – almost 10,000 less than the Note 3. I would therefore prefer Xperia Z Ultra. What would you? Leave us your comments.
