Are you still using Windows Phone 7? In that case I would recommend you to quickly upgrade to Windows Phone 8. There are a few Windows Phone 8 portfolios available in the market and it is going to get better. The Finnish maker is expected to announce the purported Lumia 1520 which will support quad-core processors and 1080p displays altogether.
Let me cut out all these and get straight to the point. There is actually bad news for Windows Phone 7 users, especially for regular Skype users. Microsoft recently announced that they will be dropping support for Windows Phone 7 and will not release any update for the outdated operating system. The company announced that they are going to deploy there resources for making Windows Phone 8 a better experience and improve its performance.
Microsoft says, “As we look ahead to the future, we are focusing all our efforts to bring great experiences and improved performance to Windows Phone 8, building on the capabilities of the platform. As a result we are not planning to release further updates to Skype for Windows Phone 7. However the Windows Phone 7 app will remain available to download in the Windows Phone Store, so users can still keep using the core Skype experiences, such as Chat, Voice and Video Calls.”
This should not come as a shock because Windows Phone 7 is quite old now. The operating system was launched three years back in 2010 and therefore it is high time to move on. However, the application will still be available in the Windows Phone store allowing users to use Chat, Voice and Video Calls features.
