The morning of Sunday, 24th April, 2016 started with high spirits as 3000 children from 40 different schools across Jaipur participated in Juniorun, a marathon for kids which started at 6 am. Organized by GRR and PinkBlueIndia.com, this marathon was a run to promote healthier lifestyle, water conservation, pollution control and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. This event was organized in association with A1TV, media partner.
Shri Ramcharam Bohra, MP Jaipur, Shri Arun Chaturvedi and Shri Nirmal Nahata, Mayor Jaipur were present at this event to encourage the young children. Shri Ramcharam Bohra facilitated the winners and expressed his joy on the success of this wonderful event.
This marathon started from Amar Jawan Jyoti and was divided into four different categories ranging from 1 to 10 kms. The first category “Costume” had children up to one year who participated with their parents running for them for 1 km. The second category “Small Kids” consisted of children in age bracket of 2-6 years who ran for 3 kms. The third category included children from 7-14 years who ran for 5 kms. And the last category had children in age bracket of 15-18 years who ran for 10 kms. Every participant was given a complementary kit which included t-shirt, water bottle etc. by the sponsors. The winner was awarded with prizes sponsored by Tata Cycles.
The participants also included 30 children from Disha, a resource Centre for Multiple disabilities. ISPS school was the school partner of the event and showed maximum participation in the event. Popular schools like Mayo college also came with their athletic team and 8 out of 11 Mayo students bagged prize in different categories. Not only this lots of women and foreign tourists showed their interest and ran for the causes.
Siddharth Chaudhary, organizer of Juniorun, said “Soon the kids’ marathon on the same concept will also be organized in Bangalore, Greater NOIDA and then Gurgaon”. Jaipur Juniorun was a great success as children in big numbers participated and ran for healthier lifestyle, water conservation and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
