Luxury train in the world – Palace on Wheels

Palace on Wheels as the name suggest is a luxury tourist train launched by the Indian Railways to promote tourism in Rajasthan – the state to the Pink City Jaipur. The service has been refurbished in August 2009 with a new decor, itinerary and cuisine. This wondrous service was voted as the 4th luxurious train in the world in 2010.

For 2013 & 2014 the fare is launched as US $390 for each person per night. However, the ticket price varies accordingly for three occupancy levels – Single occupancy, twin sharing and triples sharing.

• The luxury train travel package prices as mentioned below are applicable to a single person per journey
• The terms & conditions and booking & cancellation policy is mentioned elaborately below
• However, the mentioned rates and charges of Palace on Wheels are valid only till March 2014
• Seasonal departures may include additional costs.

Terms and Conditions attached:

• Children below 5 years of age are given a waiver of 10% on the total cost of the journey. For the age group of 5 to 12 years, half of the journey cost is charged. However, to avail to this waiver, age proof certificate of the child/children needs to be produced as the time of issuance of the ticket.
• For special festive departures like Christmas (25th December) and New Year (1st January), another surcharge of 10% will be added on the total fare of the Palace on Wheels train tour.
• Service tax is not included in the fare and as such 3.09% will be charged.
• In addition to paying commercial taxes, another USD 15 will be charged per tax along with the tariff.
• However the above mentioned tariff is subjected to change without any prior notification.

Inclusions/Exclusions

• The fare of Palace on Wheels is a collective combo of the following:

Travel, catering, conducted sightseeing, entrance fee at monuments/parks/palaces, cultural programs, camel ride at Jaisalmer, boat ride at Udaipur and rickshaw ride at Bharatpur.

• The fare of Palace on Wheels will not cover the following :

Drinks, tips, laundry, telephone calls, video camera fees, business car facilities, liquor and other personal luxury items.

Booking Policy

For Fully Independent Travelers (FITs)

• 20% of the tariff during the time of the confirmation of the booking.
• Remaining 80% of the tariff may be paid 60 days prior to departure.

For group tours

• 20% of the tariff during the time of the confirmation of the booking.
• Remaining 80% of the tariff may be paid 75 days prior to departure.

Cancellation Policy

If any travelers want to cancel the tour, they need to inform Palace on Wheels via fax or e-mail. However, the refund will depend upon the number of days left for the departure of the train.

For Fully Independent Travelers (FITs)

• 95% of the ticket value will be refunded, if the cancellation is made 60 days prior to departure.
• 80% of the ticket value will be refunded, if the cancellation is made 30-59 days prior to departure.
• No refund will be provided if the traveler makes the cancellation in less than 30 days before departure.

In case of group tours:

• 90% of the ticket value will be refunded, if the cancellation is made 60 days prior to departure.
• No refund will be provided if the traveler makes the cancellation in 0-59 days before departure
