Samsung has finally announced that it will offer the Android version of BlackBerry’s BBM messaging app during its release. According to a press release issued earlier this week, it was confirmed that BBM will be “available to all Samsung GALAXY smartphone consumers across Africa” on Google Play as well as Samsung’s own app store. Today the press specially referred to Africa. It is likely that Samsung owners in other territories will be able to download the app too.
Samsung also states that BBM “will form part of Samsung Messaging Hub” on Galaxy devices. It has put forward some kind of deeper integration with the built-in Messaging app on the cards.
However the exact date for the launch of BBM for Android (or iOS) is not confirmed yet. It is advocated to be under beta test now. Hence it can be concluded that the release date is not that far.
